White Stuff upgrades communications network

Retailer expects to improve connectivity between shops and offer faster customer service

Clothing retailer White Stuff is using a next-generation network to reduce transaction times and improve internal communications.

The company hopes to also ensure compliance with Payments Card Industry (PCI) data security standards and improved communication between stores and head office.

“The system gives us a standardised solution and closed-loop audit trail and staff can send us pictures of window displays by connecting a digital camera to the store PC, report faults and incidents, and provide footfall data direct from thermal imaging cameras,” said White Stuff’s IT manager Venn Luscombe-Mahoney.

A broadband link will connect the chain’s 45 stores, while the head office will be connected via an SDSL line, which can be upgraded with extra features such as voice over IP.

The system was supplied by Vodat and Thus.
