Brother urges VARs to Print Smart

Printer vendor keen to help SMEs get more out of printing with channel's help

Printer giant Brother is urging the channel to get behind its latest printing efficiency campaign.

The vendor has launched Print Smart, which is claims will help VARS strengthen relations with SME customers, by raising awareness of the latest laser printing technology and encouraging them to use their printers in a more efficient way.

Brother has also unveiled a ‘Print Smart’ guide and a charter that SMEs can sign up to in order to demonstrate their commitment to improving printing efficiency.

Paul Callow, general manager, printing and solutions division at Brother said: “Offering guidance on how to improve efficiency and cut emissions is a great way for VARs to add value and build a better working relationship with their customers. This guide is about offering end-users the best possible advice on what printers will help them work smarter – it’s something we believe in strongly at Brother and that we feel offers major benefits for dealers and end-users alike.

“One of the main recommendations we are making is that offices should print in duplex – using both sides of each sheet of paper.”

Callow said that a recent Brother survey highlighted that only six per cent of employers said their businesses regularly use both sides of the paper when printing. The study also revealed that 58 per cent of small businesses did not even have the facility to print on both sides.

“There are a large number of duplex printers available within the small business price range, and using one of these could substantially reduce the amount of paper being wasted,” Callow added. “If a customer is on the lookout for a new printer, it’s not a massive step-up for them to purchase a duplex model and the long term savings on paper will more than outweigh the initial investment.

“Printer technology has moved on substantially in the past few years and its important to point out to customers the range of features designed to help growing businesses print smarter. From scanning documents straight to email to printing direct from a USB memory stick, the right machine can dramatically increase the functionality of every office and its staff,” he said.
