Send 1GB attachments with your favourite email service

Pando is a free software that lets you send and receive large files and folders, up to 1GB, via email, IM and the Web. In the first version, you installed the software. Then you opened the application and typed in an email address. It was a standalone product.

Pando has now released Pando v1.2 beta with an Email Plug-in that lets you Email files and folders up to 1GB in size using your existing email with Yahoo Mail, Yahoo Mail Beta, Hotmail, AOL Mail, Gmail and Outlook. All you have to do is to download and install the beta, sign in to your account with any of the supported email applications/services, click compose, hit attach and go. However, Pando currently supports Windows Internet Explorer 6 or 7 only.

It automatically packages and transfers any file that exceeds your defined size limit (5MB by default) for you in the background. Pando attachments are encrypted end-to-end (256bit AES) and you can track how often your files are downloaded.

If you do not have an email with any of the supported email applications/services, but still want to attach folders or password protect your attachments, simply launch and use the Pando desktop application.

When you send an attachment the file is uploaded to Pando's secure server where they are stored for 14 days and an email containing a small (~10K) .pando file as an attachment containing information about the location of your files is sent to the recipient(s). The recipient opens the .pando file to start a direct p2p transfer from your machine, Pando's servers and other recipients.

Pando's revenue comes from ads. An ad pops up as the recipient is getting his or her payload. Early next year, the company will come out with a premium version with a fairly low subscription fee.
