Threat of DoS or phishing attacks on unpatched systems

Linux company Ubuntu has issued an update for the Mozilla browser that fixes exploits which could be used phishing, denial of service (DoS) or other security attacks.

The alert on the Secunia website said that the vulnerabilities could be exploited by malicious people to conduct cross-site scripting and phishing attacks, bypass certain security restrictions, disclose sensitive information, cause a DoS attack, or potentially compromise a user's system.

According to details on the Ubuntu website, the patch fixes a number of problems discovered by different users.

Ubuntu said that the problems can be corrected by upgrading the affected packages and restarting Mozilla to effect the necessary changes.
